Beat 'whitey' – get a reward!

Be a black thug – beat a white student senseless – you and your families get rewarded with an all-expense-paid "getaway for a relaxing weekend" while they watch you hand out awards on BET to a standing ovation. After all, six black thugs damn near killing a "white boy" in an unprovoked, cowardly attack can be tiring and stressful. But be a black student who works hard, gets good grades, speaks proper English, refuses to stoop to the lowest common denominator, and you are accused of "acting white."

Have a 21-count indictment for child pornography in Chicago and indictments in Florida for same, with videos of your (alleged) sexual acts with minors selling on the street corners, and the NAACP will give you its Image Award (evidence: R. Kelly).

But be a black woman who enrolled at the University of Denver at age 15, who is fluent in Russian, has served three presidents, is an accomplished pianist, was a former provost of Stanford University, has written several books on international relations, is the former assistant to the president of the United States for national security affairs and today serves as the secretary of state, and you are called a sellout, which is the kindest of the pejoratives you are called. But declare yourself a "bitch and a ho," make a salacious music video and you will win a Grammy award.

(Column continues below)

Demand black-theme college dorms, segregated tables in school cafeterias, separate minority graduation exercises, black studies curricula and black-only orientation, and it's because you need a "safe place." After all, being around all those white students wears hard on a brotha' after three hours of class. But be a white student and even contemplate the notion of a white-only orientation, and we would see a national furor.

In the name of "we're gonna make whitey pay for what Alex Haley said they did," many blacks continue to take one step forward and five steps back.

A good friend is a well-known artist who shows his work around the world. He is also black. But because he refuses to play the victim and create from an "oppressed perspective," he is criticized by liberal white elites, while some of his fellow black artists – who have played the victim for quick success – question him in private as to why he doesn't do the same. Or even more telling, some applaud him privately for not portraying himself as a victim, but confess they aspire for immediate success, not the success that comes from years of toil and integrity.

Newton's third law is as applicable to our social structure as it is to physics – and let there be no doubt that to continue down the path of unreasonable prejudice, antagonism and blame that far too many blacks insist upon is a sure way ultimately to experience it.

Their parents may tolerate being blamed for the ills of blacks, but there is a growing reluctance by white youths to accept those accusations silently. They are tired of being blamed for that which they had no part in.

As we move forward to the next generation, I predict that the pendulum of "blame whitey" as a derigueur for blacks will have consequences they will not like. I suggest that the mindset and the practice of rewarding the lowest common denominator is both abstruse and self-defeating.

Jackson and Sharpton will have their black useful idiots converge on a town or city to protest at a moment's notice – the majority of which not only do not live in the area, but come from polar ends of the country (evidence: Jena, La.).

After a protest, they return to their environs until the next time they are needed. The question that begs answering is: What happens in the town they just left? What happens when the protesters and cameras are gone? Why aren't these professional protesters doing more to clean up their own neighborhoods? Why aren't they demanding an accountability of parents and teachers where they reside? And finally, what kind of jobs do they have that allows them just to pick up and leave for days at a time? Is it safe to say they have no jobs?

Whites are not the enemy of blacks – the Jacksons and Sharptons, et al., along with a government that sanctions divisions based upon race, are the enemies of blacks. I will be soundly criticized for saying it, but until blacks start taking personal responsibility for themselves, their actions, their families and their neighborhoods, the last thing they should do is blame white people for anything – anything that is, save for being weak and unwilling to stand up for their own personal dignity.

Until we become "one nation under God" we will continue to be factionalized groups, blaming whomever is perceived to have more than the next and cursing those of their same ethnicity who do not subscribe to victimology. Blacks cannot continue to bully and blame erroneously without repercussions. We didn't like it when whites did it to us during Jim Crow, and we cannot expect them to tolerate us doing it them.
