Jena, A Good Place To Call Home

Jena Helps Katrina Refugees

When Hurricane Katrina destroyed much of New Orleans and south Louisiana, the Jena Churches were more than willing to help the refugees.

Many of the Churches had signs welcoming the victims of Katrina. There was no such thing as "White Only", that sort of thing has been gone for fifty years.

Jena and the local area churches housed, fed, clothed and provided financial aid to about 3000 refugees. About 2800 were black and Jena is proud to have helped.
